In addition to his professional achievements, Dr. O'Daniel will actively collaborate with the Pre-Optometric Student Society, organizing educational seminars, coordinating networking events, and facilitating tours at Midwestern Optometry School and optical laboratories. The dedicated team at Tatum Eyecare is committed to supporting the needs and goals of aspiring Optometric students.

At Tatum Eye Care, Dr. Fuller, our esteemed owner, has provided employment opportunities to a diverse range of students, a significant number of whom have pursued advanced education in nursing, PA school, several have become Optometrists. Currently, our team includes 2 PA students, 1 nursing student, and 1 Pre-Optometry student. Surrounding oneself with successful individuals is a key to achieving success.

Dr. Felten, an Arizona native, earned his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Brigham Young University before completing his Doctorate of Optometry at Midwestern University in Glendale. He is a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society and received the Clinical Excellence Award in Pediatrics and Vision Therapy during his time at Midwestern University. Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Felten enjoys working with patients of all ages. His degrees include:

  • Brigham Young University: Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science

  • Midwestern University: Doctorate of Optometry

Dr. Houle, a North Dakota native, earned her Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of North Dakota before completing her Doctorate of Optometry at Midwestern University - Arizona College of Optometry. With over a decade of experience in eye care, Dr. Houle has worked in various roles, including receptionist, optician, and technician, before becoming an optometrist. She has a specific focus on managing ocular diseases such as dry eye and glaucoma. Her degrees include:

  • Midwestern University – Arizona College of Optometry: Doctorate of Optometry

  • University of North Dakota: Bachelor of Science in Biology

Dr. Fuller grew up in Issaquah, Washington and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Washington State University. He headed east to The Ohio State University where he received his Optometry degree in 1998. After graduation, he headed southwest to sunny Arizona. Shortly thereafter he met Dr. McPhelan and they partnered up at their original location, Optical Illusions. With the success of the first location, the two doctors opened up their north location, Optique at the Ridge. In 2016 they merged the two locations into their larger and current location, Tatum Eyecare! Dr. Fuller holds the following degrees:

  • Ohio State University -Doctorate of Optometry

  • Washington State University - B.S. Mechanical Engineering

Dr. McPhelan grew up in Southern California and enlisted in the Army at age 17. He graduated from Southern California College of Optometry in 1976, then started practicing optometry in Arizona in 1977. Over the next few years, he grew 20/20 Eye Care to 15 offices. In 1999, he and Dr. Fuller took over Optical Illusions, then opened Optique at the Ridge. In 2016, they created Tatum Eyecare. In his spare time, Dr. McPhelan is an avid golfer, often competing in multiple tournaments through the year. Dr. McPhelan holds the following degrees:

  • Southern California College of Optometry - Doctorate of Optometry

A Southern California native, Dr. Wong earned her B.S. in Biology from UCLA and completed her Doctorate of Optometry at the Southern California College of Optometry. She pursued a residency in ocular disease at Hu Hu Kam Memorial Hospital in Arizona and achieved the distinction of Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Wong, providing comprehensive eye care for all age groups, has a special interest in managing medical eye conditions, including glaucoma, eye infections, dry eye, and diabetic retinopathy.

  • Southern California College of Optometry: Doctorate of Optometry

Dr. O'Daniel, a 1983 graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry, has been a significant figure in optometry. Based in Scottsdale since 1986, he joined Tatum EyeCare in January 2018. Dr. O'Daniel's passion for education is evident through his leadership roles in optometric associations, including coordinating continuing education for the Arizona Optometric Association and serving as President of the Central Arizona Optometric Society for over eight years.

Currently, Dr. O'Daniel also serves as a Board member for Red Rover Ventures, an organization dedicated to enhancing eye care capacity in low-income countries with the aim of preventing blindness.

Dr. Fuller can discuss how he became partners with Dr McPhelan and now manages a large six Doctor office, staff, wife and kids.

Dr. Houle, our recent graduate, can provide detailed information on the OAT test and share her experiences from her four years at Midwestern.

Dr. Felten, also a Midwestern graduate, can offer insight into preforming Ophthalmology 1-Day Post-OP to fitting Scleral Contact lenses.

Dr. O'Daniel is available to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of working in a commercial Optometry office versus a private practice.

Dr. Wong can share her experiences working in a Glaucoma practice for an Ophthalmologist and now a private practice Optometry office.

Dr. McPhelan can offer valuable insights into creating and managing multiple commercial Optometry locations before he transitioned to private practice.
